2025 has been difficult, frustrating, and painful. Donald Trump returned to the White House with Project 2025 and went to work. Trump’s federal budget was passed, which strips away health care and food assistance from millions of people while pouring billions into ICE terror and giving corporations and the wealthy massive tax breaks. Our organization and coalition opposed the Big Betrayal Bill at every step. In the fall, we mobilized voters to cast their ballots in the Special Election on Prop 50, which would authorize the state to temporarily use new congressional district maps to elect members of the U.S. House of Representatives for the 2026 midterms.

AAPI FORCE-EF’s 2025 Fellowship was designed to prepare young leaders for careers in strategic communications, policy advocacy and research, and electoral campaigns. Our fellows have been focusing on and learning about expanding democracy, building grassroots power and engagement, and developing effective AAPI voter mobilization tactics.

Today, October 1, the new federal budget year begins, kicking off the implementation of major parts of the 2025 Budget Reconciliation Law (AKA the Big Beautiful Bill — or as we like to call it, the Big Betrayal Bill).
